One Requirement:  Applicants must be 18 or older.
You may apply solo or with a partner.  Solo applicants may be paired by us!

Overview

Cape Cod Flippz 2026 is a furniture flipping competition where teams transform thrift finds into beautiful, sellable pieces. Teams will shop, create, and compete over a two-week period.

Team Structure

  • 4 teams will participate in the competition

  • Each team will have a designated volunteer photographer

  • All teams will be required to pick up their team shirt prior to Sat. May 30th. T Shirts will be ready for pick up on Wednesday May 27th by noon. 

  • Please post the event on your social media our flyer and that you are a contestant, the more people who attend the event, the more successful it will be.

  • We have postcards for you to distribute and posters 8 x 11 posters.  


Phase 1: Shopping Day - Saturday May 30th

Budget & Time Limits

  • Each team receives $150 shopping budget

  • 3 hours shopping time limit

  • Shopping begins at 9:00 AM sharp departure from Colorful Kidz

  • Teams must return to Colorful Kidz by noon

Shopping Requirements

  • Teams must purchase 3 pieces of furniture

  • Locations include local yard sales and other designated venues

  • You and your partner must be able to comfortably lift the furniture you're purchasing (think saleable, we would like items to be taken home by the purchaser). 

  • When you purchase your furniture you must tag it and call it into our pick up team if you are not able to put it in your vehicle at that time.  

  • You must purchase any accessories that you plan to use during the 3 hr. window, this does not include your embellishments ( hardware, paint, fabric, wheels, wood) 

  • Any embellishment purchases must have a receipt. Any left over monies are to be returned to Colorful Kidz. 

Accessories & Enhancement Items

  • Teams may purchase accessories to enhance their booth display and must be purchased within the 3 hours shopping window. 

  • Accessories must physically be part of the furniture display (example: lamp on a desk, barware, glasses, planter, artwork)

  • Accessories can be sold in addition to furniture pieces (example: wine glasses purchased at yard sale)

  • All accessories must be used to decorate the furniture pieces during display

Leftover Funds

  • Any unspent money from the $150 budget must be turned in to Colorful Kidz by 12:00 PM

  • Leftover funds become the team's competition kitty for Phase 2


Phase 2: Creation Period

Planning & Design

  • Teams must determine their design plan for each piece on Day 1

  • All transformation decisions must be finalized before work begins

Workshop Access

  • Teams have 2 weeks to complete their furniture transformations

  • Workshop access available during daytime and evening hours

  • Teams may work on their own schedule within the 2-week timeframe

Documentation

  • Team photographers will document the shopping process

  • Additional documentation may be required during the creation phase


Competition Guidelines

Booth Setup

  • Teams will display their 3 completed furniture pieces

  • All purchased accessories must be incorporated into the display 

  • Booth setup should showcase pieces for potential sale

Judging Criteria

Whoever sells their pieces and accessories for the most money will the competition, fun prizes and bragging rights.  

Timeline Summary

  • 9:00 AM: Teams depart Colorful Kidz for shopping

  • 12:00 PM: Deadline to return leftover funds

  • Day 1: Design plans must be finalized

  • 2 weeks: Creation period with workshop access

  • Final day: Event opens at 10 am. Will continue to 3:00 pm
